How fees work

  • Insurance we work with

I am not in network with insurance plans. You pay the practice directly, and you can ask your plan to reimburse you for out-of-network care. I do not bill Medicare or the Oregon Health Plan, Oregon's Medicaid program. If you want a clinician who does, tell me and I will help you find one.

    • Not in network with insurance plans

    • Medicare and the Oregon Health Plan are not billed

  • If you pay yourself

Before you book, you get my fee in writing for each kind of session: individual and couples. A limited number of reduced-fee sessions are held each month, so ask when you write. If you need to cancel or move a session, I ask for 24 hours' notice.

    • Fee for each kind of session in writing before the first one

    • A limited number of reduced-fee sessions

    • HSA and FSA cards work for sessions

    • 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session

  • Receipts for reimbursement

Each month I send an itemized receipt, called a superbill, that you can pass to your plan. It carries a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. Your plan decides whether it pays you back, and how much. For couples sessions it is written under one partner's name, so tell me whose plan you want to use.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start, and I give you a written one in advance. If a bill comes to $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract, and you can stop at any point.

  • Checking your benefits

Before the first session, I can go through your plan's out-of-network benefits with you and tell you what to ask the plan. I cannot promise what a plan will pay.
